Q: We are a primary care practice with patients on Core Health Insurance and want to become a primary network provider.
A: Core Health Insurance is a widely available supplemental insurance plan that has grown even more quickly in response to national health reforms. Because it is available on a guaranteed issue basis to all applicants under age 65 in all states that permit this type of insurance, this is one of the few universal health insurance plans.
This is an indemnity insurance that allows assignment of claim without the need to become a participating provider. This means that if your pateint signs an Assignment of Claim form, the plan administrator will sent benefitis directly to your office. There is no need to become a member of any provider network to benefit from this service.
Core Health Insurance members may optionally utiilize the Preferred Health Care Systems (PHCS) preferred provider network. PHCS is a seperately managed company. More information, including how to become a PHS preferred provider is available on the Web site www.PHCS.com.
Core Health Insurance members may utilize the PHCS network for PPO benefits including pre-negotiated fee and billing arrangements. However, use of a PHCS provider is optional, not required, and does not affect the maximum amount of payment or the ability to assign payment of claim directly to the provider.
