Q: Since both of us are on Medicare, Medicare offers a new dental plan which is not accepted by our favorite dentist. Do you know of any insurance plan that would be accepted by any dentist that is not on preferred doctor's list and that plan sells for low price per month?
A: Dental insurance is never a good deal for individuals who pay for their own benefits. (See former articles at asktony.tonynovak.com for a detailed explanation). A better value is available through dental discount plans. The dental discount plan offered by Careington at www.ehealthdiscountplan.com is about the best in terms of price (10/month per household), size of network, consumer reputation and quality of service. This is a commercial dental plan not affiliated with Medicare. It is easy to check the list of local dentists that accept this discount pricing plan at the online enrollment Web site.
