Q: Is the premium for ValueMed really $31 per month? Is this legitimate insurance?
A: Yes, the premium for this limited benefit insurance really is that low but also remember that 1) this insurance is designed to cover primarily outpatient expenses like doctor's visits and is not a comprehensive major medical insurance, 2) this insurance should be used in combination with ValueHealth or other insurance for more complete coverage, and 3) there is a monthly administration charge of $5. Still, this often makes ValueMed one of the lowest priced medical insurance in many parts of the U.S. which explains its popularity. Keep in mind that many short term medical insurance plans at FreedomBenefits.net provide full major medical insurance at a price not much higher than this - perhaps $65 pr month for a young adult - that would offer a lot more protection.
