Q: You mentioned the medical
information bureau report. What is this exactly? and can anyone get
access to this-including myself?
A: The Medical Information Bureau
(MIB) alerts its member insurance companies to omission and fraud in
the underwriting
of individual life, health, disability, long term care insurance.
Despite its "official" sounding name, the MIB is privately owned and
operated by insurance companies. MIB is the equivalent of a credit
reporting service for the insurance industry. MIB will provide
consumers with record disclosure once annually without charge, so
consumers who suspect a problem should call MIB’s toll-free phone
number listed on the Web site.
