Q: We currently live in Texas, but will be terminating employment, (plus medical coverage) here. We need medical coverage from July 15th 2006 to August 1st 2006, while we travel up to Alberta, Canada to start new employment and coverage up there. Which would be our best plan and how do we find relevant information and cost online?
A: The key to getting the best coverage at the best price is to understand that you will want to take two separate consecutive policies. A U.S. short term health insurance policy will be used from the date of your group benefits termination until you go to Canada. An international travel insurance policy will provide the best benefits from the day that you enter Canada until you are provided with another coverage. Both types of policies are easy to find, inexpensive, provide excellent coverage, and can be issued online within minutes. See www.FreedomBenefits.net for more information on all of these policies. There is a listing of low cost health insurance plans that are specifically available in Texas. A policy like "Secure STM" is ideal for the U.S. coverage and "Liaison International" would work best for the time you are in Canada. (See the complete list of international policies to decide which would be best for your specific plans).
