Q: Can a Health Reimbursement
Plan provide post-retirement benefits?
A: Yes, as long as those benefits
are for the qualifying medical expenses of the employee, covered spouse
or dependents. We do not recommend this in a small business plan
because of the administrative requirements and most HRA plans do not
include this optional provision. A better way to do this purpose is
through an employer-funded Health Savings Account.
