Short term HIPAA coverage

Q: Does a short term HIPAA plan exist?

A: HIPAA refers to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, a federal law that is intended to ensure that everyone, regardless of health status, has access to at least one health insurance plan. Short term health insurance refers to a low cost type of health insurance that does not cover the cost of pre-existing medical conditions but offers easy online enrollment with immediate coverage. Short term health insurance is not available to everyone So the answer to your question is that HIPAA coverage may be used for only a short period of time (one or two months, for example) but this insurance does not offer any of the cost or ease of use advantages of short term health insurance. There is no such thing as "low cost HIPAA" coverage since these HIPAA plans are generally the most expensive health plans available.
