Supplemental health insurance

Q: My husband's employer adapted
a high deductible health insurance and I am having trouble finding
supplemental coverage that is available.
A: Very few health insurance
policies are available to individuals and families to provide secondary
coverage to supplement a primary health insurance plan. These policies
must meet specific requirements under each state's insurance laws to
allow for overlapping coverage without an "offset" or "subordination of
claim" provision.
Two types of allowable supplement policies are issued online at
www.basichealthinsurance.net. Keep in mind that this supplemental
coverage is not available in all states so if your state is not listed,
then there may not be any other supplemental insurance available.
