Why is Apple Intelligence useless to me?
I watched the 4 minute and 17 second introductory video to Apple Intelligence titled “AI for the rest of us” that is part of IOS 18 published at https://www.apple.com/apple-intelligence/. I am concerned that apparently I am not part of “the rest of us”.
I do not want Apple to rewrite my emails. I tend to write exactly what needs to be said, legally and professionally, in an email. I agree that proofreading is important, but of course other tools are already doing that.
I do not want to use emojis and I definitely do not want my best friend to show up as an astronaut on my screen. I really like using old-fashioned words to express myself and I am pretty well skilled at doing that.
I am now questioning why I never even once had a desire to create an image of a cat as a chef. What am I missing?
I do not sketch on a computer screen, so those features are out.
I am not using Siri now. I could, but it is a little creepy having it always listening. It is really creepy that it knows the relationships among my contacts. I get that this information is valuable to Apple and to marketers, but not so much to me. I do use ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini on a daily basis now, but they are listening only when I specifically want to have a conversation to learn something. Then I close them down.
I haven’t had any big desire to turn my photos into short movies, although I see that it is neat to view photo memories once in a while.
That was the end of the 4 minute and 17 second introductory video. I was really hoping that I would find something useful. I feel a little left out.
