The easy way to file a tax extension

This year about half of all my tax document and information responses were received by text message. This week text message service is helping to get tax extensions filed for people who are not ready to file their tax returns yet.

Minimum requirements for filing an extension

1. To file an extension, at a minimum, tax preparers are supposed to have checked the taxpayers’ ID so a text photo or the driver’s licenses is an easy way to handle that.
2. Besides that we need the social security number(s).  That’s it.

A confirmation that the extension is filed and accepted is usually available on the next day.
