I use Brave as my preferred browser and Duck Duck Go as the internal search engine. I tested it on a part-time basis over a period of about 6 months and finally uninstalled Chrome on all devices last month. All private data including usernames and passwords is kept separately (by Lastpass) and not stored by the browser.
There are two things to note:
1) by blocking trackers I also cut down on some time-saving functionality. For example, I find it necessary to complete Captcha screens more often.
2) Blocking ads prevents me from viewing some sites that rely on ads and blockers for a living. They are set up to block people like me who insist on privacy. That’s OK, I don’t want to be using this class of web sites anyway.
I enjoy using Edge browser occasionally for its look and feel and embedded user services. But I know it is essentially spyware like Chrome so I don’t use it for anything significant.
The bottom line is that I believe this is the best marriage of privacy, security, speed and practicality that meets my preferences.
