“I’m from the government and I’m here to help”

From the first day that we discussed coronavirus relief programs I emphasized the need for all of us to be wary of the claim “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”.

Over the past seven years I’ve worked with well over one hundred clients hurt by superstorm Sandy but hurt even more by government screw-ups, fraud and misguided regulation. Many still facing the impact of audits and “claw back” provisions wish they never got involved with government aid. Other site the lost time and money without ever being approved for any aid. My daily “Crisis Management Live” broadcast emphasizes the need to look for recovery solutions other than government aid. I’m afraid for the future of those who place their primary trust in a government bail out.
