Online communication security

The oversimplified version of electronic communication privacy:

  • iPhone users: Conversations in blue bubbles are secure, while messages in green bubbles to non-iPhone devices are not secure.
  • Use Signal or What’s App. What’s App is owned by Meta that keeps backups of date and might be subject to breech or to cooperate with governments requests, and that raises concerns.
  • It is safest to presume that your regular cell voice calls, call logs, email and social media accounts have already been hacked, or may be hacked, and the AI technology to analyze them and extract data exists.
  • If your CPA or other financial adviser uses secure portal system, confirm the details but this is highly secure but subject to court-ordered subpoena of data. An attorney’s secure portal is not likely subject to subpoena.
