Worker classification has been one of the hottest issues of business management affecting large and small businesses alike. Yesterday one of the high profile cases in this arena was resolved when Uber announced that it negotiated the right to continue to classify workers as independent contractors in the state of California. Uber gave up the right to tightly control the drivers.
I was surprised because I didn’t think they would have been successful id the case went to court. Will this settlement point the way to a different line of thinking that will affect Main Street businesses? I look forward to reading legal commentary that may follow on this case.
